Looking for an internship is probably every student’s worst nightmare. There’s so much to do: writing personalised cover letters, sending your CV around, scrolling for hours trying to find the perfect position… I’m not lying when I tell you that I have spent more time on LinkedIn than talking to my family these past weeks.

Luckily for us, last Monday the New Fashion Society came to our rescue.

Now, if you are a student here at Erasmus and you have never heard of the New Fashion Society, then you’ve probably been living under a rock.

NFS is one of the many student organisations at our university, and they focus on closing the gap between students and the fashion industry. They do so by organising several events in which fashion professionals can provide knowledge in exchange for the young talents brought by society.
And bringing young talents they did: on March 13th NFS collaborated with several companies at their internship fair in the Sanders building, which was open to all students and, most importantly, was completely free. What more could you possibly ask for?

The only thing you had to do was show up to the stands and talk to the companies!

In addition, for those who wanted to go a step further and have a possibility of securing an internship in the fashion industry, NFS sold tickets that gave you access to the application process: once you got your ticket you only needed to fill in a form with your CV and company preferences et voilà, you were all set to go!

The event sounded too good to be true… so of course here at IBCoMagazine, we had to go and check it out for ourselves!

The fair started at 11:00, and when we got there it was already packed. Students kept pouring in, and every stand had a constant line of people eager to know more about what the companies had to offer.

It was so inspiring to see so many individuals brought together by their interest in the fashion world. Such opportunities are amazing for the many ambitious folks who want an internship that will stand out on their CV: in fact, the New Fashion Society had many big names among their guests… Hermés, Under Armour and Hunkemöller, are only some of the great companies that took part in the internship fair.

It’s safe to say that the New Fashion Society did a wonderful job at hosting such an entertaining event, where people had the chance to network while still having fun (United Armour even prepared a challenge for our students!).

We know we enjoyed reporting this fair, and we can only hope that all of those who participated had as much fun as we did.
